Excalibur 3926TB Review

The Excalibur 3926TB dehydrator is a perfect way to stock up on snacks. The model comes with several layers of trays that will help you make a weekly haul of dried fruits and meat. If you’re like me, then you probably know buying jerky and healthy foods at the store can get quite pricey. Looking into a dehydrator may cost you a bit of money upfront, but it is well worth it in the long run.

Excalibur 3926tb food dehydrator features

I can’t say that I’m unimpressed by the Excalibur. Just like it’s namesake, this machine can make some legendary snacks with the right chef behind it. This model is quite heavy at 22 pounds and measures 19 by 17 by 12.5 inches. It does have a nice clear display that will let you know the temperature and how much time your food has left to cook. It also has an 18 to a 24-inch cord.

Like I mentioned above, this appliance comes with a ton of trays. This is perfect for getting huge batches of fruit dehydrated at once and can cut down on your time spent in the kitchen. This model comes with nine trays in all that can be easily removed. The trays can fit around 15 square feet of food.

Timer and Thermostat

Thankfully, this is a dehydrator that comes with an automatic timer. Dehydrating food can be an annoying process, especially for new timers, and this timer will ensure that the machine is cut off at the perfect time. The timer can be set for up to twenty-six hours, and the thermostat has a range between 105 degrees and 165 degrees. By giving users such a large range, it allows new cooks to experiment with different types of food. For the health continuous like me, you will be glad to know that this model preserves the nutrients and enzyme. Just pop in your favorite food and set the temperature between 115 degrees and 118 degrees.

Performance and Quality

Excalibur dehydrator ReviewAs the large size would hopefully suggest, this is a powerful unit that can make tons of snacks at once. This is a 600-watt model that consistently produces flavorful foods. You won’t have to worry about burnt bananas as long as you follow instructions correctly. The time it takes to dehydrate each food can vary depending on what settings you choose. One of my favorite things about this model is how evenly it dries my food.

I never have to worry about the back or front fruits still being hydrated. Every tray always comes out with the same quality as the one above it. Uneven dehydrating can be a bit of an issue with cheaper models, and the Excalibur takes a lot of the redundancy out of the process.

Cleaning a dehydrator is a multi-part process. Luckily this dehydrator has removable trays that you can throw in the dishwasher. The screens and the appliance itself will take a bit more work. Like with any device, you should use a wet rag and gentle soap to clean it out. Make sure to clean your dehydrator after each use to keep bacteria from building up inside of it. Keep in mind that this is a heavy unit and can be a pain to move around. I advise placing the dehydrator in a place that won’t make using or cleaning it a hassle.

I’m not going to sugar coat it; this is an expensive appliance. The Excalibur usually sits around the $300 range, which is way more than some competitors. The constituent, control, digital display, and quality of food makes up for it. Many cheaper models on the market won’t evenly dehydrate food or will only come with one temperature setting. This can be irritating if you’re like me and want to ensure that nutrients stay in your food. If you are still a bit hesitant because of the price, then the ten-year warranty may persuade you. This is an incredibly long warranty for any kitchen gadget and is a great sign that the dehydrator will last us for years to come.

Is Excalibur 3926TB dehydrator worth it?

Yes, it is an expensive model, but you won’t find food quality this great with a cheap appliance. The digital display is much easier to use than my cellphone timer, and the nutrient preserving heat level is a huge bonus.

How much electricity does an Excalibur dehydrator use?

This is a bit of a complicated question. The Excalibur takes 600 watts to power, so you will need to do a bit of math. Just multiply your wattage by the hours you plan to use the device to try and get a feel for the cost.

How to clean Excalibur 3926TB dehydrator trays?

Like I mentioned above, these trays are dishwasher safe. Just take them out after each use and place them in your dishwasher. While the rest of the dehydrator will have to be hand cleaned, at least you won’t need to worry about the trays.
